5/12 - Stockholm, Sweden

We took an early morning flight from Bergen to Stockholm, Sweden. We stayed at the Best Western Hotel Kung Carl.  We took a boat tour, went to a 17th century boat museum, and ate lunch at a Jamaican restaurant which served vegan burgers.

Tulips everywhere!

The boys slept in bunkbeds.

The Royal Palace

Jonathan liked the ships.

A swan nesting.

The Vasa boat museum.  This was an amazing museum.  The Vasa sank because it was top heavy and did not have enough weight in the holding area.

A diving capsul

Replicas of the colorful scluptures

Various minerals used to color the sculptures.

Money

The nails and screws

It was hard to capture the boat in one image.

5/11 - Bergen, Norway

We spent the day walking around Bergen, but it rained a lot.  We took the funicular up to the mountain top, ate lunch, and did some shopping.

I was looking forward to seeing a gnome while we were in Scandinavia.

This is the Byyggen, which is a series of Hanseatic (medieval) commercial buildings and listed as a World Cultural Heritage site.

King Harold - we read a book to the boys about him.

An ice skate

They had nice teeth.

Runes writing on wood.

There was a fantastic modern exhibition called "Scissors for a Brush," which are intricate paper cuts by Karen Bit Vejles.  On average her art takes 250 hours and consist of 250,000 cuts.  She only uses normal paper and scissors.  It was amazing!

Takk for Kaffe (Takk means "thanks")

Look the price of our meal (in Kroner)

The view from the funicular was fogged in.

Isn't he cute?

Michael found a friend.

Fur rugs to keep the passengers warm while they wait for the funicular.

The fog sort of cleared.

A variety of fish and heads.
