5/7 - 5/8 Copenhagen, Denmark (Thursday & Friday)

We flew from Santorini, to Athens, to Copenhagen.  This was the beginning of a 7-day journey through Scandinavia.

The Anderson Hotel - a clean hotel with modern European decor, very good breakfast, but a terrible location and not recommended for children.

The view from our room

If you take the stairs in the hotel, each floor has goodies

We found a delicious restaurant called Simply Raw.  I won't tell you the cost of the meal, but we quickly understood how expensive it is in Scandinavia.

This was a neat area with beautiful old boats and colorful buildings (17th century harbor called Nyhavn).

The Little Mermaid

This was a pretty area with a harbor promenade leading to the Little Mermaid.

One of my favorite sites - baby geese - as we approach an old church.

We are on our way to visit the Kastellet

A beautiful, large scale fountain called the Gefion Fountain (1908).

Approaching the Kastellet.

Entry to the Citadel (Kastellet) which is a very well preserved fortification that was built to protect Copenhagen (1807).

The Kastellet is pentagon-shaped.

The barracks

The windmill.

The Borsen (oldest Danish Stock Exchange - 1640) - Dragon tail spirals.

The entrance to Christiania, where the people have no rules.  They do drugs and proclaim to be a freetown.
The idea of a freetown is interesting, but is destroying many lives.

Mural in Christiania.  We walked in and walked out as fast as possible.

Elderflower juice

Thumbelina

Michael and I had a date night at Tivoli Gardens.

The 15 minute light show was very good.
